Ok.. so lets see what animals I have had in my
dreams over the years that could be my power
animals..

Alligator/Crocodile,Bat,Black Bear,Cat,Cobra,
Dog,Deer,Goat,Horse,Leopard,Lion,Owl,Black Panther,
Polar Bear,Scorpion,Shark,Snake,Stag,Wolf,

...Huge White Spider in Haunted Home on its Web

These animals occured in many of my dreams
since I was a child.. I recall that many of these
animals seem to appear in the dream and after
wards i seem to be different. Now , I look
back many of the power Animals were helping
deal with some of the issues at the time of the
dreams..

I found this site and it has helped me
considerably by just reading some of these animals...

Animal omens are animals that come to us but
are not our spirit guides or animal guides but
are omens as in dreams and come to us to give
us information. these animals are just images
and also give the dreamer the understanding
that these animals are there as for a warning
of good or bad omen. Many times people confuse
their power animal/spirit animal totem with
dream omens or other awake omens. These animal
and their meanings can get confusing..

I was very confused with this too and how to understand
which animal is what. So I will try to explain the
difference between animal omens and animal
spirit guides or Power animals..

Animal omens are animals that appear to us in either
our waking hours and/or in our sleep. These animals we
do not like or find anything appealing to us but they appear
in our waking world and dream world too. We are not drawn
to them and they are present as an living animal but we have
have no inner connection to them. These animals appear in
our dreams or in a waking day, they are there and just their
being is an omen, or appear as an entity or as a photgraph
but with no emotion or higher meaning associated with them.

We have no attachement or any physical or emotional bond
what so ever, they are just there and than gone.. Animal omens
may in fact interact with you in a dream or world but if
they attack you or you feel threatened by them than your
feelings change to fear or other heightened emotion. Animal
omens may also attach you or attach your psyche and this
attach was my warning sign for my white wolf or black panther
or black beer or deer/stag never hurt me but protects me..
Big difference...

For me lately, It was a dream I had where I saw a school of
sharks and an alligators on land. I saw these animals
and thought wait why do I see these animals. Has my animal
totems changed? However, i know that my power animal/
spirit totem would not hurt me but the alligator from my
dream did, It chased me on land and than it bite my leg..

It was not untill several days later that I did
recognize that these animals were animal omens... or
warning signs... of attacks and they were right on and
I know understand better... My animal totems did not change
just my understanding changed as to their meanings....

My animal totems, I chose them many years ago... I saw
my self as a white wolf, I dreamed of two white wolves and
I changed or shapeshifted into these animals. I was that animal
in my dreams as I 'saw' from its perspective which was also my
perspective. I was attacking a STANDING BLACK BEAR...
Over the years, I have seen polar bears and more recently
A SPECEFIC STANDING BLACK BEAR with a White mark on
it black body... THis is my ANIMAL SPIRIT GUIDE/ TEACHER
and is my animal indicator that I am choosing a shamanistic
spiritual approach....

My other animal totems are Black Panthers, I saw others
seeing me as this animal and it reminds me of my black
cats merlyn and Tammy... Again, I had chosen this animal
many years ago, but it was not until last year when I again
had a dream of that standing Black bear and I changed into
two black panthers and I was that animal and I saw from its
eyes because I was these powerful mysteries hunters...

My other power animal is the deer... because I was drawn to
this as a child and because as I grew older, a very close
friend had given me this animal to remember by as she and
I had shared a spiritual path together and when we parted
that fateful day, I saw some deer, and she did not but did
tell me goodbye...
She died later that year.... Very spirtual..

So.. I hope that helps... I know I am just learning but
Shamanartist may have more information on this..
